Natural Language Processing as support for legal document analysis and reasoning
At the end of May, the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) launched the latest version of the “Judgments Portal”, where the full texts of the President of UODO’s decisions and orders are published. In addition to the portal’s existing features (an advanced search engine and access to the full text of documents), new elements have been introduced relating to the status and change history of the published judgments, as well as their links to legal acts and court rulings. The entire system runs on the NeuroLex platform, which is responsible for, among other things, algorithmically verifying the correctness and consistency of anonymization.
The LegalTech Forum, the largest event in Poland dedicated to innovations in legal practice, organized by C.H.Beck Publishing House, was held once again in the capital city of Warsaw. The forum took place on April 11, 2024, and brought together experts, practitioners and industry leaders to discuss the latest trends, innovations and challenges of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in the legal world.
On the last day of February this year, a workshop was held to conclude a competition for the analysis of parliamentary data using modern natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including LLM models. The event was organized by the Institute of Computer Science Polish Academy of Sciences within the CLARIN-PL consortium. Courtesy of the Chancellery of the Sejm, the workshop was held on the grounds of the Polish Parliament, in the GI building.
